Easter is Almost Here!

3/14/24 | The Weekly | by Eric Wakeling

    Dear Calvary Family,

We are so excited for Easter coming soon!  I encourage you to be prayerfully reaching out and inviting those you know to come experience the hope-filled good news of Jesus this Easter at Calvary. You can find out about all the different events and services happening this year at CalvaryLife.org/Easter but I wanted to tell you now about two of them that require registration ahead of time.

The first is the Passover Seder on Thursday, March 28. This is one of the most interesting and mind-blowing experiences of seeing the Old Testament and Jewish cultural practices point directly to Jesus as Messiah. We will go through a full Passover experience with different prayers, languages, customs and foods. The Seder is a little different this year than in the past in that we will not have a Buffet Dinner as part of the evening. As costs for everything have increased, we wanted to offer the exact same Passover experience without the dinner and have it be much more affordable. I can’t stress enough how impactful this will be for your Christian life. Thursday, March 28 from 7:00-9:00pm in Fellowship Hall. $20. Register at CalvaryLife.org/Seder

The second opportunity for you is to be baptized on Easter Sunday! Baptism is an act of obedience in response to your salvation in Jesus Christ. We are not saved by being baptized, but we are proclaiming our salvation and going public with our faith through identifying with the death and resurrection of Jesus. How awesome would it be to get baptized on Easter? If you have never been baptized as a believer, then please register for one of our Baptism Classes being offered on an upcoming Sunday at 11:00am in the Worship Center Lobby - either this Sunday, March 17 or next Sunday, March 24. In the class you will find out all about what baptism is and what baptism is not. You will see the different teachings and stories of baptism in the Bible that will help you have a greater understanding of what you are doing. The baptism itself will take place on Easter Sunday, March 31. Please register for the class at CalvaryLife.org/Baptism so we can plan for how many to expect, or you can just show up on Sunday at 11:00am.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
    Eric
