One Question to Ask
Dear Calvary Family,
This series called Journey of Generosity has been a great reminder to me of how God is the great giver and how Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice.
I've been on a personal journey of generosity over the last several years. Our family has always given to our church but we've made decisions each year to increase that again and again. And I'll tell you something, it's not always easy. Many years ago we could only give a little, so we gave a little. As we have grown and our careers have furthered, we've been able to give more so we give more. The important thing is to start giving or increase giving depending on where we are financially in life.
Like you, money causes me stress. It's the biggest way I typically feel anxiety. Usually when I think about giving to any person or organization, I feel a bit of stress tightening up. But then once I give, the stress is relieved and the joy of the Lord begins to enter into my heart.
A friend said to me on Sunday, "there's only one question to ask when it comes to this." I said, "What's the question." He said, "Are you generous? That's the only question."
Are you generous?
Only you can answer that question. I encourage you to prayerfully answer that question and take steps toward a life of generous living. Sharing with a friend in need, giving to a ministry that matters to you, faithfully giving regularly to your church, supporting missionaries, opening your resources to God's work, sharing your faith, giving encouraging words, and so much more.
"I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ." Philemon 1:6 NLT
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday as we continue this challenging and encouraging series.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
